THERAPY SERVICE UPDATE
2020 saw thousands of people donating to the BMMUK fund to be able to provide therapy for Black people, delivered by Black therapists. We answered the call and have delivered therapy to approximately 4000 individuals and families to date.
However, demand for our therapy services has, once again, exceeded our capacity to deliver.
It is a grave indication of how much of a mental health crisis our community is facing, and how under-resourced provision for mental health services is.
We have taken the difficult decision to close our portal for therapy self-referrals at this time whilst we work on putting the current clients through the system.
As a charity, we are constantly seeking support to keep our service running and as such wish to appeal to you to support us in any way you can by donating whatever you can or fundraising on our behalf. Think of this as ‘paying it forward' so that more people can access this life enhancing intervention.
Please keep checking back on this page for further announcements, or subscribe to our newsletter.
We apologise for not being able to support you directly at this time. Please visit our resources page for further support.
We are NOT an emergency crisis service. If you or your loved ones are experiencing an acute mental health crisis or having suicidal thoughts, please dial 999 for the appropriate emergency service. Call Samaritans on 116 123, Sane on 0300 304 7000 or text Shout on 85258
