  • Black Minds Matter UK is a registered charity operating in the UK.

    Our purpose is to create and champion safe and accessible mental health support with and for Black community.

    Our vision is to see a community of Black people readily accessing Mental Health support, recovering fully from mental illness and thriving.

    Here’s a brief overview of our journey so far:

    June 2020 BMMUK Crowdfunder was launched by Agnes Mwakatuma and Annie Heyes

    July 2020- Approximately 2600 signed up to the waiting list to access therapy with BMMUK

    January 2021- BMMUK was granted official Charitable status

    March 2021- Launch of the #BMMUK21K challenge to find long term donors and help raise additional funds for those looking to access therapy with BMMUK.

    2022 - Focus on clearing waitlist and developing infrastructure as start up organisation.

    January 2023 - Change in Leadership signals growth and scale mode for BMMUK

    June 2023 - Waitlist cleared and recruitment drive initiated.

    June 2024 - Staff team grown by 100%

  • Clients are invited to apply for therapy using the Access our therapy button on this website

    You will recieve an email with further details regarding the next steps.

    After a comprehensive Eligibility and Readiness Asessment, if eligible, you will be sent the Full Assesment and Consent Registration form. Once you have completed this, we will match you with a qualified Black therapist for 10 weeks of 121 virtual talking therapy.

  • According to the NHS and NICE guidlines talking therapies are defined as follows: Talking therapies are psychological treatments for mental and emotional problems like stress, anxiety and depression.

    There are lots of different types of talking therapy, but they all involve working with a trained therapist.

    We offer one to one virtual talking therapy and cover a number of modalities (methods) including but not limited to CBT, Somatic, Interpersonal and Integrative.
